Enter Assignment Level Costing For An Employee

To enter assignment-level costing for an employee in Oracle HCM, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Person Management:

  • From the Home page, go to My Workforce and select Person Management.

2. Search for the Employee:

  • Enter the employee’s name or number in the search bar and click Search.
  • Select the employee from the results to open their profile.

3. Manage Costing for the Assignment:

  • In the employee’s profile, click on Manage Costing for a Person under the Actions menu.

4. Select Assignment Level:

  • On the Manage Costing for a Person page, you’ll see several levels of costing (such as Payroll Level, Element Group Level, and Assignment Level).
  • Choose Assignment Level to enter costing information specific to the employee’s assignment.

5. Enter Costing Details:

  • In the Assignment Level Costing section, input the following information:
    • Cost Center/Account: Specify the cost center or accounting combination to which the payroll costs for this employee’s assignment will be charged.
    • Percentage: If the employee’s costs are to be split between multiple cost centers or accounts, enter the percentage of costs allocated to each. Ensure the total percentage equals 100%.

6. Effective Dates:

  • Set the Effective Start Date for the costing entry to determine when this costing configuration should take effect.
  • If the costing entry is temporary or has a known end date, you can provide an End Date.

7. Save and Close:

  • After entering all the necessary details, click Save and Close to apply the assignment-level costing for the employee.

8. Validate Costing:

  • You can verify that the assignment-level costing is correctly applied by reviewing the Manage Costing for a Person page or running a payroll process to ensure that costs are charged to the correct cost centers.
