Using Override Functionality For An Element Entry

In Oracle HCM, the Override functionality allows you to modify specific values on an element entry without altering the base configuration of the element itself. This is useful for handling exceptions or one-time adjustments, such as adjustments to earnings, deductions, or other payroll-related amounts. Here’s a basic overview of how you can use the Override functionality for an element entry:

Steps to Use Override Functionality on an Element Entry:

  1. Navigate to the Element Entries:

    • Go to PayrollPerson Management and search for the employee you want to update.
    • Under the employee’s record, go to Payroll RelationshipsElement Entries.
  2. Select the Element:

    • Find the specific element you want to adjust (e.g., Salary, Bonus, Deduction).
    • Click on the element to view its details.
  3. Override the Values:

    • Within the element entry, look for fields that you can override, such as Amount, Rate, Percentage, etc.
    • Enter the new values in these fields for the period you want the override to take effect.
  4. Specify Effective Dates:

    • Set the effective dates for the override, indicating the time period when the overridden values should apply.
    • For one-time overrides, you typically set the override to apply only for that specific payroll period.
  5. Save the Changes:

    • After entering the override values, save the changes to the element entry.
    • Verify the entry to ensure the override is accurately reflected in the payroll calculations.
  6. Review in Payroll Run Results:

    • Run the payroll process for the employee’s pay period and review the results.
    • Confirm that the override has been applied correctly by examining the payroll run results.
