Remove Values From Value Set

To remove values from a value set in Oracle Cloud, you will need to access the value set through the Manage Value Sets task in the Setup and Maintenance area. Here’s a step-by-step guide to removing values from a value set:

Steps to Remove Values from a Value Set in Oracle Cloud:

1. Log in to Oracle Cloud

  • Use your administrator credentials to log in to Oracle Cloud, as managing value sets requires appropriate security permissions.

2. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance

  • From the Navigator menu, go to “Setup and Maintenance” (under Tools or My Client Groups depending on your module).

3. Search for the Manage Value Sets Task

  • In the Setup and Maintenance work area, use the search bar to find the task “Manage Value Sets”.

4. Find the Value Set

  • In the Manage Value Sets page, search for the value set that contains the values you want to remove.
  • Use the value set name or a part of the name to locate it, then click on the value set to open the details.

5. Access the Value Set Values

  • Once the value set is open, go to the Values tab or section where all the current values are listed.

6. Remove the Values

  • You have two options for removing values:
    • Disable the Value: Instead of deleting, you can uncheck the Enabled checkbox to make the value inactive. This way, the value will no longer be selectable, but it will remain in the system for historical purposes.
    • Delete the Value: Some value sets allow you to completely delete the value. Select the value you wish to delete and use the Delete option if available.

7. Save the Changes

  • After disabling or deleting the value, click Save or Save and Close to apply the changes.

8. Verify the Value Removal

  • You can verify that the value is no longer available by going to the area where the value set is used (e.g., in forms, reports, or segments) to ensure that the value no longer appears in the dropdown or selection list.

Considerations:

  • Historical Data: If the value is being used in historical transactions, it is often recommended to disable the value instead of deleting it to avoid data integrity issues.
  • Dependencies: Ensure that the value you are removing is not being used in any current transactions, reports, or configurations that require it, as this might lead to errors.
  • Effective Dates: You can also set an end date for a value if you want it to stop being used after a certain date rather than immediately removing it.

Summary:

To remove values from a value set, navigate to Manage Value Sets in the Setup and Maintenance area, locate the value set, and either disable or delete the values as needed. Ensure that you save your changes and verify that the values are no longer available for selection where the value set is used.
