Enforce Bank Branch Validation For Direct Deposit Setup

Enforce Bank Branch Validation For Direct Deposit Setup

To enforce bank branch validation for Direct Deposit setup in Oracle HCM, you need to configure the bank validation rules at the payroll level. The objective is to ensure that employees enter valid bank details, including bank branch information, when setting up or updating their direct deposit details.

Here’s a general outline of how you can implement this:

1. Set up Bank and Branch Details:

First, ensure that all valid bank and branch details are set up in Oracle HCM. You’ll need to load or create a list of valid banks and their corresponding branches. You can do this via the Manage Banks and Manage Bank Branches tasks.

  • Steps:
    • Go to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
    • Search for the task Manage Banks.
    • Define the banks and link them to their corresponding branches using the Manage Bank Branches task.

2. Configure Bank Validation Rules (Payroll Relationship Level):

To enforce validation, you need to define validation rules for the bank and branch. You can configure validation using Fast Formulas or use the predefined validations Oracle provides.

  • Steps:
    • Navigate to My Client Groups > Payroll.
    • Select Payroll Definitions and ensure the payroll is linked to a bank validation setup.
    • In the Direct Deposit section, set up validation rules so that only valid bank and branch combinations can be selected.

3. Use Fast Formula for Custom Validation (Optional):

If Oracle’s out-of-the-box validation does not fully meet your requirements, you can create a custom Fast Formula to validate bank and branch combinations.

  • Steps:
    • Go to My Client Groups > Payroll.
    • Under Payroll section, choose Manage Fast Formulas.
    • Create a new formula to check for valid combinations of bank and branch.
    • Assign this formula to the payroll process under Direct Deposit Validation.

4. Test the Validation:

After configuring the rules, test them by going to the employee’s direct deposit setup:

  • Navigate to My Client Groups > Payroll > Manage Direct Deposit.
  • Try entering an invalid branch. The system should prevent you from proceeding with an error message.

5. Error Messaging and Alerts:

Customize the error messages to be user-friendly, guiding employees on entering the correct information.
